Alejandra Vázquez won the Uni scholarship to study for a semester in Brazil, here she tells us about her experience:
When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
When I entered Uni I knew that there were international programs but I never had the intention of doing any kind of exchange.
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
Never, I was not minimally informed of all the opportunities I had by studying at the University of Celaya.
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, I was curious about it, but I had never studied or lived outside the country.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Mainly, getting to know other cultures, another lifestyle in all areas, as well as having the opportunity to learn another language.
Why did you decide to study in that country?
Because I met a Brazilian woman who was previously doing an exchange program at Uni, she told me about Brazil and awakened my curiosity to know her country.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
Excitement and a bit of fear at the same time, excitement because arriving in a country where you know absolutely nothing gives you a thousand opportunities to learn and fear for the same reason, because it is something unknown.
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
Very good, I liked the school very much, both in facilities and education, and I also had excellent teachers. All the people I met always received me very optimistic and helpful whenever I needed something.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
I missed the food too much, Mexico has a countless diversity of foods, and the people, of course, my friends, family, but everything is bearable.
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
Meeting people from all over the world, living with everyone is an unforgettable experience and it is a place full of firsts.
And the hardest part?
There are difficult stages when you need your loved ones with you, personally the only difficult situation I went through was when I was sick, I really needed support.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
As a person I gained a very significant learning that only those who participate in this type of program will understand, you grow a lot as a person, I learned to value and be aware of everything around me, things, people, situations, places and many more. And professionally, you get a more global vision, how each country has its perspective towards business, as it was in my case. I learned new techniques to implement in the future.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
I recommend them 100%, they are opportunities that should be taken advantage of by everyone because they are really worth it.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, never.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
What will you miss most about Mexico?
What about the Uni?
And the hardest part?
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

Zayra Yareli Rivera from Digital Design tells us how wonderful her experience was thanks to her international scholarship in Chile:
When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, I knew they had these programs and it is part of what I liked about Uni.
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
I had wanted something like this all along but was too afraid to do it.
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
I had never had this experience before, the whole time I was close to home.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
I wanted to have a global vision and not just look from a fixed point, but to complete panoramas at a global level.
Why did you decide to study in that country?
I was struck by the level that the country of Chile has in America.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
I felt very confused as if I was afraid, you arrive in a country that even though it is your own language they have idioms that you do not understand, the food is totally different from what we have in my country.
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
Wonderfully, I have friends not partners, people that I will have to leave because we are all from different countries.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
From Mexico its food and my loved ones
What about the Uni?
From Uni everything, my university now I check that it has a very good level because everyone liked my work.
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
I think going to the end of the world, visiting the Paine towers and almost touching the south pole is magical, you really feel alive when you see such beautiful landscapes that even seem photoshopped, but no, they are there and they are real.
And the hardest part?
The most difficult part was the lodging. We had to stay with friends from Monterrey for 3 days because we ran out of an apartment.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
As a person I think I have changed a lot, the person who took the plane to Chile is not the same person who returns to Mexico. I feel very confident, eager to do things and with new ideas for my career, new design influences.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
If you should all live an experience like this, believe me, these are things that you will never regret in life.

Silvia Joana Morales is studying Nutrition at Uni, and thanks to international scholarships she was able to spend a semester in Brazil.
When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, in fact that's why I wanted to study Nutrition at Uni, because of the programs that the University offers and that open the doors to continue with your professional growth.
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
No, my idea was always to be able to apply to a program when I was in my 5th semester but I never thought I would have the opportunity to study outside my country.
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, never. This was my first time.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
I was very motivated throughout my career to study abroad because my idea at first was to study in a city near Celaya (Queretaro or Leon), in the end I was not given the opportunity and then my idea was to get into an international program and that's how every semester I was getting good grades, participating in cultural events, being part of the Alumni Society etc..
Why did you decide to study in that country?
I decided to choose Brazil because I wanted to get to know its culture, to learn another language was always a priority, because of the good comments made by other Mexican students and because the university is one of the best in the country.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
At first I felt out of place, afraid, I started to miss everything about Mexico, everything was new to me and there was a moment when I wanted to go back. As time went by I got used to it and I liked it more and more until I came to the point of wanting to live in Porto Alegre for a long time.
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
I was received in the best way, I always felt supported by my professors, classmates, my university friend and academic mobility was always attentive to all foreign students.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
Without a doubt, my family and Mexican food.
What about the Uni?
My friends and teachers.
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
Meeting people from many countries was one of the best experiences I have ever had, some of them become your family. To be able to visit Christ the Redeemer twice was something impressive, to do trilhas and to be able to do my internship at the São Lucas Hospital.
And the hardest part?
I had to go to the doctor for an ear infection and suffered a fall that left me incapacitated for several days.
I know that afterwards I will have to say goodbye to the friendships I made in Brazil.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Mainly it made me grow as a person, in relation to being able to have another vision of things, to trust more in myself, to believe that I am capable of achieving everything I set my mind to and that the world is so big that no matter where we are, that to want is to be able to and with this experience to apply all my knowledge I learned for my life and profession.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
Of course, it is a unique opportunity that I would like other people to experience what I am experiencing now and that they will not regret, whether it is in Brazil or some other country, for me it is one of the best decisions I have made and that has benefited me a lot as a person.

Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, never.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Why did you decide to study in that country?
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
What will you miss most about Mexico?
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
And the hardest part?
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Me surgieron muchas nuevas ideas e inquietudes.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
Siempre voy a querer regresar a Brasil.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Why did you decide to study in that country?
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
What will you miss most about Mexico?
What about the Uni?
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
And the hardest part?
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, nunca.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Why did you decide to study in that country?
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
Un recibimiento cálido muy al estilo catalán.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
What about the Uni?
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
And the hardest part?
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

María Paula González is studying Gastronomy and from the University of Lleida, Spain, she tells us how she has lived this experience that the Uni scholarships have given her:
When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, it was one of the reasons why I stayed to study at Uni after being in high school as well.
Did you think you would go to live and study abroad?
It was always in my plans to go with this program but I never thought I would actually have the opportunity to do it.
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
Yes, but not for more than 2 months.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Mainly because of my career, since studying gastronomy always means discovering and learning new things; and there is no better way to gain culinary experience than traveling.
Besides that, I always knew that getting out of the routine and living experiences like this make you grow as a person.
Why did you decide to study in that country?
Being one of the destinations in Europe that the Uni had, I thought it was the best option to have more ease to travel and see many places, and also because of the opinions of students who had already been in Lleida.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
At the beginning I was not so happy and I was afraid of not adapting, leaving your home is difficult and the feelings are too many. Although it was in Spain, Lleida is in Catalonia, so the classes were in Catalan and I didn't understand anything. I really didn't know what was waiting for me.
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
In the internationalization office they have been very kind and have given me a lot of security with all that fear of entering a new school. Despite having to deal with more than 180 students of more than 20 nationalities, they always have a personal touch and enough time to assist you and help you with whatever you need.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
Without a doubt, the food. Studying gastronomy has made it a little easier for me to live alone and I love to try new things, plus Spanish food is one of my favorites, but there is nothing like Mexican food.
I also missed my family and friends a lot but I could talk to them every day, so I was always close in some way.
What about the Uni?
My cooking classes more than anything else; in Lleida there is no career as such, so all my classes were theoretical. Also to my teachers, in the Uni all have an individual treatment with the student and in Lleida there was sometimes no way to reach an agreement or get an advice, because there were classes in which there were more than 90 students.
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
All the friendships I formed.
Studies, responsibilities and travel are an up and down of emotions and feelings every day that you are away, but to see that the group of strangers you arrived with are now like your family is something incredible.
And the hardest part?
The hardest part of living such an incredible experience is learning to say goodbye.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Going on exchange changes you for life, I think that after this experience I learned things that I could not explain. Learning to live alone, living in another country and leaving your routine makes you grow as a person, it teaches you to value and be responsible. And the best of all is that whatever career you study, internationalization will always open your mind in a way that will open many doors for you in the future.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
If you have the opportunity to go and live this experience, don't think about it. You are going to live the best experience of your life.
