UNI TO MAKE TIME TRIAL FILMS AT GIFF RALLY

Students of Communication and Audiovisual Media, Digital Design and Architecture from the University of Celaya will be making the film project "Cuando te toca" (When it's your turn) next July as part of the University Rally within the framework of the XXV anniversary of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF). For the third consecutive year, Uni is part of the 6 teams participating in the GIFF Rally that were selected from more than 200 scripts nationwide; this is a competition whose main challenge is to film and edit a short film in just 48 hours on location in the city of San Miguel de Allende. The GIFF Training program allows students to train for six months through workshops with film industry professionals in San Miguel de Allende and CDMX.The "Cuando te toca" team is already working on the making of the models of their short film, which implies a considerable investment and that is why they have launched a funding campaign on the Kickstarter platform that manages an "all or nothing" system; that is, if the students do not reach the goal of 70 thousand Mexican pesos that they have set for April 18, then they will not get any funding. That is why they invite the entire educational community of the University of Celaya, which they will proudly represent, to join their campaign and become sponsors of this great dream; by being part of it, they will be able to obtain rewards allusive to the project. If you want to support this group of university talents, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Enter to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cuando-te-toca-film/cuando-te-toca-shortfilm
  2. Click on "Sponsor this project".
  3. Review all rewards and select a level; if you do not want rewards, you can click on "Contribute without reward" and indicate the amount you wish to support.
  4. Click "continue"; if you do not have a Kickstarter account, the platform will ask you to create one.
  5.  Fill in the information requested to make the payment (it is a very secure platform, so you don't have to worry).
  6. Click on contribute and that's it, you have become a sponsor of "When it's your turn".

It is important to mention that the platform withdraws the sponsorship from the bank account until after the end of the campaign (April 18), so you must keep the sponsorship money intact, as many times the accounts do not pass and the money received by the team is reduced. Visit the profiles of "Cuando te toca" at Facebook E Instagram to learn more about this project and the ways in which you can support new Mexican filmmakers. At the University of Celaya we seek that our students have platforms to learn, develop skills and strengthen their competitive spirit; GIFF is one of those platforms where since 2012 several generations have had the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience of international stature in the field of film production and, specifically in University Rally, very important achievements have been obtained, such as: the audience award for "Sequía" (2020) and first place in the competition with "Muerte en Guanajuato" (2021); we wish that this 2022 "Cuando te toca" successfully reaches the finish line.

Democracy Tour arrives in Guanajuato to present IDD-Mex 2021 report

Democracy Tour arrives in Guanajuato to present IDD-Mex 2021 report

  • The Konrad Adenauer Foundation Mexico, Polilat, INE, USEM and CEPOS present the results of the Mexico Democratic Development Index 2021 (IDD-Mex 2021).
  • Guanajuato is one of the entities that lost the most value with respect to 2020, going from 5,031 points to 2,814; that is, a decrease of more than 2,000 points.
  • It is ranked 25th in the national ranking.
  • It obtained the worst score in its series in the IDD-Mex, as a result of declines in all dimensions.
  • Only in the Economic Democracy Dimension does it exceed the national average.

Celaya, Gto. (Thursday, March 10, 2022) - The Democratic Development Index of Mexico (IDD-Mex) is an index created to analyze strengths and weaknesses in the development of Mexican democracy, which allows political, social and economic leaders to have useful diagnostic elements to design specific policies that help achieve greater development in the country's states.

To disseminate the 11th edition of the IDD-Mex, the "Democracy Tour: Challenges and Evaluations of Democracy in Mexico" was held at the University of Celaya to present the results that the state of Guanajuato obtained in 2021 in the four dimensions of the IDD-Mex: Democracy of citizens, Democracy of institutions, Social Democracy and Economic Democracy.

The presentation of the IDD-Mex publication had a hybrid format so that the remote audience had the opportunity to follow the live broadcast from the Facebook page of both the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (https://fb.watch/bHcvvUboF2/), as well as the University of Celaya (https://fb.watch/bHcpof_jgm/).

The IDD-Mex report, prepared with official data from the states and with the perception that citizens have of the climate of rights and freedoms that characterize democracy in their communities, cannot but reflect the impact that this "partial halt to life" has on the system of social, political and economic relations in democracy; as well as on the climate of rights and freedoms of individuals and families; on the functioning of institutions that provide basic services for social and labor dynamics; on the investment climate; on the productive system, among others.

In the case of Guanajuato, as a consequence of the setback, it changes its development rating from medium to minimum, dropping more than 2,000 points in its overall rating.

After four years of decline, it reaches its worst record in terms of Citizens' Democracy and although it has never deserved extreme negative evaluations, the trend of the curve and the latest results set off an alarm signal, which should provoke a reaction on the part of the state leadership to elaborate and implement better strategies for building citizenship and respect for rights and freedoms.Democracy of Institutions suffers a strong setback, qualifying with minimum development, while social democracy remains at low development levels and economic democracy shows a rebound, qualifying with medium development this year.

This report is a wake-up call for the country's political, social and economic elites, since many of the opportunities for improvement identified here in each state can constitute a roadmap, not only for recovery, but also for initiating a sustained path of development for each community.

The IDD-Mex 2021 highlights Mexico's contrasts from an academic perspective, but it is also an appropriate instrument for political analysis, showing strengths and weaknesses, constituting an adequate tool for political, social and economic leaders to use as an objective diagnosis, as well as to outline and implement policies that allow for progress in human development and social and economic equity.

THE INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAM REAFFIRMS ITS ACADEMIC QUALITY

Universidad de Celaya aims to be a learning community that distinguishes itself for its academic quality and for providing its students with an exceptional educational experience that inspires them to positively transform the world.

That is why one of the commitments of our Institution is the continuous improvement of its study programs through strategic and periodic updating, as well as certifications through external national and international organizations.

In February of this year, the Industrial Engineering and Management program received the reaccreditation of the Higher Education Programs Register as a testimony of the satisfactory fulfillment of the academic requirements established by the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES), thus ensuring a first class educational service for students.

This academic program has been in force for more than 30 years offering quality education to train engineers who contribute professionally to the technological development of our country and its main competitive advantages are:

  • The early internship program to experience labor market insertion prior to graduation.
  • The linkage with high-impact national and international companies for the development of projects.
  • Specialty in plastic injection molding.
  • Preparation to present the international certification of Yellow Belt Six Sigma by the ASQ.
  • Active participation of its students in international calls for short and extended stays abroad.

Industrial Engineering graduates from the University of Celaya have positioned themselves in organizations with the implementation of quality management systems, application of lean manufacturing projects and six sigma methodology ; or they have excelled as entrepreneurs of their own business and/or company.

The CIEES collaborate strategically with Higher Education Institutions in the search for Excellence, guaranteeing their prestige through the evaluation of the basic aspects that every HEI must comply with and others related to the institutional project, research, innovation, internationalization, linkage and cultural extension.

This significant achievement is the result of the qualified work of the directors and members of the academic staff who, day after day, put their dedication at the service of the formation of the future leaders of our community.

Prepa Uni IB students achieve outstanding IB Diploma results

Thanks to the high commitment of the students and the preparation provided by the teachers, the 2021 Generation of Prepa Uni IB achieved its highest result in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program, obtaining 4.83 as the average mean score of our students, surpassing the world average score of 4.43.

Academic quality is at the core of Prepa Uni's philosophy and on the road to excellence the educational system of the Universidad de Celaya has been strengthened with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP) that trains students, between the ages of 16 and 19, with an excellent breadth and depth of knowledge, while growing physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically, giving them the tools to access any university in Mexico and abroad.

The evaluation used a dual model and included content from subjects such as literature, business management, monograph, biology, mathematical analysis, theory of knowledge, theater and visual arts. The International Baccalaureate Diploma program allows students to live a learning experience where they learn and share with young people from all over the world, raising their academic level and developing other personal skills that transcend in their lives.

Created in 1968, the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Program has the recognition and respect of the world's leading universities, guaranteeing better performance in higher education than those who do not take the program, Prepa Uni is the only one in the region that officially offers the International Baccalaureate.

Uniamerican International School, one of 8 schools in Mexico with the immersive hybrid classroom system.

An immersive hybrid system will be implemented in 21 classrooms at Uniamerican International School to guarantee the continuity of academic quality in all its elementary and high school groups, as well as the optimization of learning environments that will be characterized by promoting inquiry, critical thinking through triggering questions and collaborative work in the context of a safe, staggered and semi-presential return next August.

Only eight schools, distributed in four states of the country, including Guanajuato, have immersive systems (UNOi, May 2021) that operate with a state-of-the-art technological infrastructure made up of computers, iPads, projectors, 4K cameras with 120-degree coverage and artificial intelligence mechanisms for facial recognition that allow them to take tracking shots, delimitation and close-ups in detailed areas, as well as panoramic shots with remote control. Likewise, the cameras frame based on human voice recognition, suppressing environmental noise to achieve greater fidelity in the transmitter's audio.

Another key pillar of immersive hybrid classrooms is the teaching team that is being trained to successfully plan and implement classes that awaken students' interest and curiosity, while generating learning and developing skills supported by academic content designed for this purpose.

Rosalba Vega, in her 4th semester of high school, currently takes biology and math classes in an immersive hybrid classroom and, from her experience, the advantages are a higher level of attention and concentration during class that has allowed her to improve her academic performance, a better group dynamic and the confidence of feeling safe in a de-densified classroom.

Thanks to this integral model of educational evolution, more meaningful learning experiences will be generated for students and teachers because, with the integration of the technological and academic components within the classroom, a more natural simultaneous interaction between students who will attend classes in person and those who will participate remotely will be possible.
