Diana Guadalupe Gómez studies Gastronomy at Uni and thanks to the international scholarship program Uni has the opportunity to study a semester in Brazil, from there she tells us about her experience.
When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, it was even one of the reasons why I chose Uni.
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
It is something that I wanted to do from the beginning but I saw it as something far away until the opportunity presented itself.
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, this is my first time out of the country.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Learning different things, enriching my career with another culture, another way of thinking, another way of doing things.
Why did you decide to study in that country?
I chose Brazil because of the academic level that PUCRS has and because it has a Gastronomy career.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
It was a totally different experience, very exciting because I faced the fact of being in a new country, speaking a language I did not master and for the first time alone, without my parents.
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
The students at the beginning are a little distant, in the city where I am they are not very open with foreigners at least at the beginning, but now we have a good coexistence and friends from Brazil, Korea, Portugal. The teachers and administrators have always been very kind and supportive.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
Of course my parents, my family, because after some time it becomes difficult to be away. Also the food is very different from Mexico, no spicy food, no tortillas, it is very different but good at the end of the day.
What about the Uni?
To my classmates and professors, as well as the facilities of my faculty.
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience? Living with people from different cultures, speaking different languages and with different ways of thinking.
And the hardest part?
I take care of everything by myself, my payments, my food, my cleaning.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
I hope to learn a lot, grow personally and academically, enrich my resume.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
Yes, I think they are opportunities that we must always take advantage of, they are experiences that, in addition to everything learned, are remembered for life.

Alegría, nervios, emoción.
¿Cómo the han recibido en la universidad a la que llegaste?
Excelente, de una manera muy cálida, nos presentaron con varias personas y nos decían que estaban a nuestra disposición para cualquier cosa.
¿Qué es lo que más extrañas de México?
Mi familia y amigos, pero en especial la comida; es un cambio cultural enorme a pesar que es Latinoamérica.
What about the Uni?
El nivel académico.
¿Qué es lo más emocionante que has vivido hasta ahora en este experiencia?
Vivir en el extranjero, en un país totalmente desconocido para mí, encontrarme con gente de todo el mundo y poder hacerlos mis amigos.
And the hardest part?
Entregas, Trabajos y proyectos; siempre es pesado pero el trabajar duro y dar el mayor esfuerzo se puede salir adelante.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Un intercambio cultural y profesional relacionado con mi carrera, el poder aprender de maestros y alumnos de otro país es muy enriquecedor.

One of the formative axes of the University of Celaya is to promote that our students take advantage of all their abilities to innovate. To discover ideas and develop them to generate products or services that bring benefits to themselves and their community.
The effort of an entire semester was shown in the innovation project showcase, where our young people presented a wide variety of ideas such as a solar cell case to automatically charge the computer, ecological ashtrays that filter the ash to be used later as fertilizer, applications to administer medicines, convertible portable table, video blog projects for students who are looking for careers, etc.
Many of these ideas are already in operation, in the patent process or in production stages, so the community of Celaya will soon be able to benefit from the projects of our young people.

The University of Celaya attended the ASQ World Congress of Quality in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Our students of the Master's Degree in Quality and Productivity Engineering shared with more than 3,000 attendees from all over the world participating in more than 100 sessions on specialized topics of quality and productivity in different industrial sectors.
This year was special because of the 70th anniversary of the conformation of the American Association of Quality, which was created by the main Masters of Quality as Shewart, Deming, Jurán, among others and of which the University of Celaya is associated and is also one of the few institutions nationwide to have a student branch ASQ, with which various activities are carried out together as the World Congress of Quality at the University of Celaya, Quality Certifications, lectures and workshops and these participations that bring us closer to the most renowned and current experts in the various branches.
Next year the congress will be held in Charlotte, North Caroline, on May 1-3, 2017, be part of this great event.

The First Week of Archaeology at the University of Celaya, organized by the School of Architecture, ended. Its main purpose was to raise awareness of the great archaeological and historical heritage of the State of Guanajuato, which has more than 1000 unexplored sites, only 32 in Celaya, creating awareness among the population and the economic and political sector to revalue, rescue and preserve it, also taking advantage of its potential to generate employment, promote tourism and enrich our culture.
Raúl Alcántara and Miguel Ángel Cruz, about the restoration of the Tresguerras Bridge. A monumental work that was possible thanks to the civil will of those involved, allowing to rescue this important work of one of the most important architects in the history of Mexico, converting a space that was abandoned and worn out in a place that gives a new view to the city and invites its population to take advantage of it for different academic, cultural and social events.

Nuestros alumnos de los últimos semestres de profesional presentaron proyectos de innovación que desarrollaron durante el semestre final. Estos proyectos son muy variados y van desde aplicaciones para dispositivos móviles, soluciones para la vida escolar, accesorios ecológicos para nuestras mascotas y hasta nuevas formas de disfrutar un café o té.
Los inventos y productos son en algunos casos ideas completamente nuevas y en otros, adaptadas a nuestro estilo de vida y necesidades regionales. Cabe señalar que los alumnos están en proceso de registro de patentes, una vez realizado el trámite podrán entonces proceder a la producción o comercialización de los mismos.

Our state has more than 1,000 unexplored archaeological sites, 32 are located in the municipality of Celaya and only 4 areas have been made available for visits in Guanajuato. Given this scenario, it is necessary first to disseminate the richness of the region and create awareness to value, rescue and preserve this great heritage.
For this reason, the University of Celaya is holding the First Week of Archaeology, also in line with the first Diploma in Archaeology and History that Uni has been offering since January 2016 in collaboration with the León Prehispanic Cultural Project.
This Archaeology Week will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2016 at the University of Celaya. Counting with the presence of important experts and archaeologists from INAH who will present their research regarding restoration, heritage conservation, etc.
The week will culminate with a keynote lecture by Engineer Miguel Angel Cruz Martinez on Thursday, June 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jose Nieto Piña Theater. Miguel Angel was in charge of the rescue of the Tresguerras Bridge and the creation of the botanical theater, plazas and walkways adjacent to the bridge.
We invite the general public, admission is free.

El área de Negocios de la Universidad de Celaya, llevó a cabo el Creative Day 2016, el cual consistió en un concurso para diseñar un modelo de negocio innovador, con esta actividad se busca que los alumnos manejen los principales modelos de negocio del mundo, siendo capaces de diseñar planes estratégicos administrativos que se adapten a cualquier modelo de empresa.
Para realizar esta actividad los estudiantes deben tener un conocimiento empresarial del entorno, desarrollar una capacidad de innovación, desarrollar una capacidad de organización y perspectiva de negocios internacionales, promover el intercambio de ideas entre los estudiantes, dándose con ello, intercambio cultural y de conocimiento, promover el trabajo en equipo desarrollando la capacidad de tolerancia al enfrentarse a diferentes planteamientos y trabajar bajo presión.
Se conformaron 13 equipos de los cuales 6 fueron finalistas: Lino Eco Design, Huerto Feliz, Eco Deco, San Miguel Te Amo, Bio Eco Bit y Eco Salas, empresas que producen desde muebles ecológicos, huertos con materiales sustentantes para comunidades y escuelas marginadas, etc.

Muchas felicidades a Jose Carlos Hernández González, estudiante de la carrera de Ingeniería Industrial Administrador y alumno ganador del programa Capacitación Sin Fronteras, lo que representa ser uno de los mejores estudiantes del Estado de Guanajuato.
Un año antes de egresar de sus estudios ya está contratado por la empresa Faurecia, líder mundial para proporcionar soluciones innovadoras para la industria automotriz. Él está desarrollando proyectos dentro de dicha compañía y tendrá una estancia de 6 meses en su corporativo en Canadá. #SoyUni #OrgulloUni

Alumnos de la Facultad de Ingenierías asistirán al concurso de Human Powered Vehicle Challenge Committee que se llevará a cabo en la Universidad de Ohio, USA. del 13 al 15 de Mayo, el cual consiste en el desarrollo de un vehículo, desde su concepción, diseño, fabricación, pruebas de operación y funcionalidad que sea exclusivamente impulsado por la fuerza muscular humana.
Los Vehículos de Tracción Humana (VTH) son una muy buena opción para el mundo actual, ya que buscan alternativas para proveer los servicios que requiere la población, reduciendo el efecto negativo sobre el medio ambiente. Los sistemas de transporte propulsados por potencia humana podrían ir en esta dirección y, dependiendo del diseño del vehículo, ser confiables, seguros y una solución real y sostenible de transporte.
La competencia está seccionada en diferentes pruebas:
- Exposición del reporte de diseño. Consiste en una presentación del vehículo en donde se describe y justifica el diseño y los elementos que lo forman.
- Exposición de Innovación. Es una presentación en donde se justifica la innovación en el vehículo, así como la tecnología implementada en el mismo.
- Prueba de estabilidad. Es un recorrido a baja velocidad sobre una recta, donde el vehículo debe mantenerse estables, no sobrepasando la velocidad de 4 km/hr.
- Prueba de radio de giro. Es un recorrido por dentro de una circunferencia con diámetro de 8 mts. De la cual el vehículo no debe de salir.
- Prueba de frenado. Consiste en un recorrido recto en el cual el vehículo debe superar los 25 km/hr en una distancia de 100 mts. y una vez alcanzada la velocidad, se procede al frenado completo en una distancia máxima de 5mts.
- Prueba de velocidad. En esta prueba el vehículo debe de alcanzar su velocidad máxima en el menor tiempo posible, esta prueba se realiza en categoría varonil y femenil.
- Prueba de resistencia. En esta prueba el vehículo se desplaza en un circuito de 1.5 km durante 2:30 horas, en él se simula un ambiente urbano. Se debe recorrer la mayor cantidad de vueltas posibles. Es importante la participación de por lo menos un piloto de cada sexo, con un mínimo de 4 vueltas y un máximo de 15 vueltas.
Nuestros alumnos competirán contra estudiantes de instituciones de Estados Unidos, y Canadá como: University of Toronto, Kansas State University, The University of Alabama, University of Florida, entre otras.
