With the intention of supporting them in their new stage, the School of Gastronomy and Tourism of the University of Celaya invited its recent graduates to a talk with Carlos Hannon, Executive Chef of the Rosewood Hotel in San Miguel de Allende, who gave the lecture: Effective Leadership of an Executive Chef with international standards.
Throughout this presentation, the chef shared some of his experiences with recent graduates and also with second-semester undergraduate students, emphasizing the importance of traveling, reading, researching, updating and learning as many languages as possible as indispensable tools for their professional development and growth.
The chef said that a great part of professional success is centered on always acting with a great sense of responsibility, because living this value is how one can capitalize on all the talent, effort and preparation one has, since responsibility is the best letter of introduction of a person to his or her work.
After the talk, Chef Carlos Hannon and the graduates participated in a three-course breakfast with the faculty and the department of liaison to listen to opinions and experiences that can be used to improve the teaching process of the current generation of students.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Why did you decide to study in that country?
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
And the hardest part?
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

Victoria Mendoza studied last semester at South China Business College, as part of the international scholarship program of the Uni and was recognized as an outstanding student, here she tells us about her experience:
- I will start by saying that it has been one of the best experiences in my life, I found maximum happiness, to the point of even feeling that it was a dream, and indeed it was a dream come true.
I can't deny that there were moments of despair, especially at the beginning and especially with the language, but it was those moments that pushed me to be a better student and above all a better person, it was a matter of adaptation, and not to be left behind, something like survival.
I learned so much!
I learned at least one different thing a day, every day; a word in Chinese or even in English, I learned the constancy and dedication of the Chinese in relation to study, I learned from them also to be helpful and always give the best of myself to others no matter who it is, or ask for absolutely nothing in return.
I even learned Kung Fu, I joined the team because I had the image that this sport is very significant in China, and especially because the official image is Bruce Lee, he is quite a character!
All these activities that I did led the school to award me as an outstanding foreign student, a recognition that took me by surprise, and that made me feel very proud of myself, since it was a big challenge in the academic, cultural, personal, and family aspects.
There is no way I want to keep this experience to myself, I want to tell everyone how incredible it was, and all that I know. Now upon my return I want to make a change in myself and the people around me.
I thank the school that gave me the opportunity to spend a semester in another country, count on my thousands of grains of sand to make this world a better place.
