I wanted to have a global vision.

Zaira Rivera, from Digital Design, tells us how she wanted to broaden her vision and was able to achieve it thanks to the Uni scholarships.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, I knew they had these programs and it is part of what I liked about Uni.

Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
I had wanted something like this all along but was too afraid to do it.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
I had never had this experience before, the whole time I was close to home.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
I wanted to have a global vision and not just look from a fixed point, but to complete panoramas at a global level.

Why did you decide to study in that country?
I was struck by the level that the country of Chile has in America.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
I felt very confused as if I was afraid, you arrive in a country that even though it is your own language they have idioms that you do not understand, the food is totally different from what we have in my country.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
Wonderfully, I have friends not partners, people that I will have to leave because we are all from different countries.

What will you miss most about Mexico?
From Mexico its food and my loved ones

What about the Uni?
From Uni everything, my university now I check that it has a very good level because everyone liked my work.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
I think going to the end of the world, visiting the Paine towers and almost touching the south pole is magical, you really feel alive when you see such beautiful landscapes that even seem photoshopped, but no, they are there and they are real.

And the hardest part?
The most difficult part was the lodging. We had to stay with friends from Monterrey for 3 days because we ran out of an apartment.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
As a person I think I have changed a lot, the person who took the plane to Chile is not the same person who returns to Mexico. I feel very confident, eager to do things and with new ideas for my career, new design influences.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
If you should all live an experience like this, believe me, these are things that you will never regret in life.

Andrea Rendón Ramírez estudia nutrición en la Uni y es una de las primeras estudiantes en realizar el programa de doble titulación con la Universidad de Lleida en España. Aquí nos cuenta su experiencia.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
No, la verdad no sabía que existía este tipo de programas hasta que en un buen día en clases entro Gaby a hablarnos sobre ellos.

Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
Jamás, nunca me imaginé que tendría esta oportunidad.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No, never.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
Me impulsaba la emoción y curiosidad de vivir la experiencia de estar en otro país y aún mejor sumarle que te darían un doble título, desde que escuche sobre la opción de hacer la doble titulación en primer semestre solo pensaba en lo increíble que sería, pero nunca me imaginé que yo que iniciaría con esta movilidad tan extraordinaria. Ahora entiendo más que nunca la frase “Estudia para que llegues muy lejos” por parte de mis padres, maestros y familia, tenían razón y les agradezco tanto ya que sin ellos no estaría hoy en España.

Why did you decide to study in that country?
Porque siempre había sido un sueño llegar aquí, de pequeña cuando jugaba con mi hermana a tener mi casita mi opción para para vivir siempre era España.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
Al principio sentí un poco de miedo porque no conocía como moverme desde el aeropuerto, pero al ver que había más jóvenes como yo pensé       -bueno si ellos pueden yo también- ese miedo se transformó en asombro al ver cada de detalle de todo lo que estaba a mi paso.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
Increíble, todos han sido muy amables y considerados con nosotras.

What will you miss most about Mexico?
Sin duda alguna la comida y mi familia.

What about the Uni?
A mis amigos y maestros.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
Viajar y meterme a un lago congelado en Finlandia.

And the hardest part?
Decirle adiós a los amigos que conocí aquí y con los que conviví tanto que ahora son como parte de mi familia, pero por otra parte es emocionante porque sabes que los volverás a ver y ahora será en su país.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Crecer, espero ser mejor como profesionista y persona, romper mi propio record y hacer las cosas aún mejor.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
Totalmente, es una experiencia que debes de vivir y como la escuela ya te da todos los programas, opciones y facilidades es solo cuestión de que des el salto y digas ¡Va, yo quiero!

Sample of Psychology Projects

As part of the commemoration of the psychologist's day, a sample of projects of the learning journey that the students have been carrying out during the semester took place. During their introduction, the importance of having an area of specialization and the advantages of being a registered psychologist after obtaining their degree were presented.

Fourth semester students who focused their project on social and labor psychology, titled their project "Labor Inclusion"; which consisted of looking for opportunities in different companies for people with different abilities and give them a sense of belonging. Their project showed that there are vacancies in many companies but that these people do not seek these jobs due to lack of information. Her biggest goal was to achieve a change of mentality.

Other fourth-semester students conducted a workshop to raise awareness about people with disabilities among university students, carrying out integrative activities and raising their awareness through the use of wheelchairs to achieve greater empathy.

To close the day, the students received two workshops. The first one, given by teacher Guadalupe Samaniego, was about the analysis of resilience in children through a thanatological perspective. In it, the workshop leader began by giving the definition of resilience, which comes from the concept resilio; which means to jump backwards. In psychology, resilience is the capacity of human beings to overcome emotional pain and continue with their lives. She also pointed out that children are more capable of adapting to this type of loss or grief because they are not accustomed to so many experiences and do not handle prejudices; on the other hand, adults have a more limited way of thinking. Through family, individual and social perspectives, the carver analyzed these concepts with the students.

On the other hand, the Attention Deficit Disorder workshop was also held, which was taught by Monica Silerio, who provided didactic material with psychometric and value tests to diagnose children through self-evaluations. All this in order to know the impulsive characteristics that children have and to detect what their solutions are when dealing with frustration. The workshop leader pointed out that the diagnosis of a child with attention deficit is from the age of three, however, it is possible to start working with him/her from the age of five.

Analyzing attention deficit.

As part of the commemoration of the psychologist's day, a day of lectures and workshops was prepared for the psychology students. Beginning with a lecture by Monica Marin, Surgeon graduated from the UNAM, the students learned how to make a deep analysis of the attention deficit disorder.

Based on the fact that it is a condition linked to hyperactivity and impulsivity that cannot be cured but can be controlled, it has been related to children directly to distraction, however it has nothing to do with intelligence. As a curious fact, being children who do not measure risk situations, they are more prone to accidents and injuries; and therefore have a higher pain threshold.

Throughout her lecture, the speaker provided various statistics, such as the one that states that 75% of the cases of ADD that are treated remain until adulthood; however, once the patients have been discharged, although the disorder remains, they themselves recognize the symptoms that produce it. Or the fact that the disorder is much more common in men than in women, on a scale of 3 to 1. Besides being one of the most studied disorders, it is also hereditary, although there are prenatal factors such as the use of drugs or alcohol during pregnancy. Interestingly, it has been stipulated that 75% of people who consume harmful substances suffer from the disorder.

Likewise, the speaker admitted that the generations have advanced in a convincing way, since, in most cases, when people realize that something is wrong with their learning process, they themselves are the ones who request psychological treatment.

Generally, in many schools, children with attention deficits who are restless and impulsive are rejected. Part of the therapy that psychologists should provide is to tell moms that this has nothing to do with the education they have given their children, but that it is a learning problem and needs to be treated.

 

 

Uninnovating and providing solutions.

Uninnovation Day is a Uni program that allows students to present a business model project to be evaluated by experts.

Gastro students presented macaroons titled "mexirrones" with Mexican flavors such as marzipan and chocolate abuelita.

Other students presented a cab App to improve cab service and boost local commerce.

In Communication, "Little House", an app to give street dogs a home, and the "Naterba" store, which offers a healthy option for the consumption and trade of these products through organic gardens, were created.

Automotive engineering students created smart, climate-adaptive building blocks for the poor made of unicell with resin.

In the area of Architecture, "Ecobijas" were created, quilts stuffed with newspaper for people with limited resources, a project similar to the one presented by the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, who used plastic bags to create the mattresses, with the idea of teaching the communities to make them themselves.

In the case of Industrial Engineering, the young people designed lights for bicycles called Magic Straw.

Also presented was the project for a biodegradable candy straw that paints drinks containing toxic substances in a stronger color.

This event is the culmination of a process of research, analysis, planning and creativity that students develop every year during a semester to provide innovative solutions to existing problems.

Mi experiencia en Canadá

Gracias al apoyo de la Universidad de Celaya, Educafin y Ulinks, cinco compañeros de la universidad y yo tuvimos la oportunidad de convivir y compartir una experiencia en el extranjero con un grupo de más de 40 estudiantes de diversas carreras de diferentes universidades del estado de Guanajuato; estudiantes ejemplares que de alguna forma lograron destacar por iniciativas emprendedoras, excelencia académica, méritos deportivos, proyectos de innovación, etc.

La finalidad de esta prueba piloto era crear una conexión entre Universidades de ambos países y cambiar la mentalidad de que México depende únicamente de Estados Unidos; además de crear puentes en vez de barreras, y poder ver todo lo que Canadá ofrece a sus ciudadanos así como a la gente que lo visita.

Durante nuestra estancia en Canadá, fuimos bien recibidos y tratados con mucha atención de parte de los colaboradores de Educafin, Unlinks, de  las empresas y universidades anfitrionas, fuimos bienvenidos a todos los lugares que visitamos y eso me hizo sentir muy bien y con ganas de regresar pronto.

Pude darme cuenta dentro de mi corta estancia que la ciudad de Toronto es una ciudad bastante diversa en cultura, y me sorprendió que, a pesar de esto, la gente aprende a respetar las diferencias que existen entre personas y a convivir en el día a día.

Es por esto que me atrevo a decir que la diversidad no siempre es motivo para que una ciudad tenga más problemas, sino al contrario, da pie a una mayor contribución para solucionar problemas y crear un ambiente de paz y tolerancia.

Canadá en general es un lugar con oportunidades para todos y con un alto índice de calidad de vida; esto quiere decir que la ciudad provee las condiciones para que la gente pueda tener estabilidad y satisfacción en distintos ámbitos como la salud, vida familiar, comunitaria, trabajo, política, etc. Esto es porque el gobierno cuida bien de su gente mediante acciones que benefician a todos y porque las inversiones de recursos llegan a donde tienen que llegar.

Por otra parte, tuvimos el placer de conocer una representante del Consulado General de México en Toronto, que nos explicó las diferencias entre una embajada y consulado, así como las funciones principales del consulado de representar y proteger a la gente mexicana que reside en la ciudad de Toronto.

Una de las cosas que más me gustó de mi visita fue visitar la ensambladora “Toyota Motor Manufacturing Company”, y ver un día normal de producción en sus instalaciones. Fue una experiencia inolvidable ya que nunca en mi vida había estado en una armadora de carros; donde además pude notar el alto desarrollo de tecnología en la automatización de sus procesos, la gran infraestructura y nivel de organización de una planta de una de las marcas más importantes de vehículos del mundo. También me sorprendió mucho la rapidez con que terminan un vehículo para ser vendido y satisfacer la demanda del cliente, o mejor conocido como tackt time, que es de un minuto aproximadamente.

Este viaje significó mucho para mí, ya que fue una oportunidad o un privilegio, más que una derecho, el de realizar una estancia en el extranjero y es por eso que me llevo la satisfacción de haber sido elegido entre muchos alumnos y el compromiso de seguir estudiando y esforzándome para seguir siendo un estudiante ejemplar e incentivar a otros estudiantes a aprovechar este tipo de apoyos que da el gobierno y echarle ganas al inglés, que sin duda es un idioma que cada vez es más necesario para ingresar de forma exitosa al mercado laboral.

Por último, quiero mencionar que el compromiso de que haya una mejor educación en el país no es únicamente del gobierno, sino de todos los habitantes, padres de familia, hijos, estudiantes, hermanos, compañeros etc. ya que, en colaboración de todos, es como el país puede progresar para que los mexicanos tengamos una mejor calidad de vida.

Cocina mexicana en Barcelona

El Chef David Jahnke, de la Licenciatura en Gastronomía, se encuentra en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona como profesor visitante para impartir sus conocimientos gastronómicos sobre la cultura mexicana a los estudiantes de la Escuela de Turismo y Dirección Hotelera en Barcelona.

About the gastronomic book "De Boca en Boca".

Last year the University of Celaya and the Bachelor's Degree in Gastronomy presented the photobook "De Boca en Boca" which gathers the wise culinary advice that our people transmit from generation to generation and mixes it with a series of photographs of men and women who preserve and renew our valuable gastronomic traditions.

The book has a prologue by Josema Azpeitia, gastronomic journalist and editor, professor of gastronomy at the Basque Culinary Center and winner of the Basque Gastronomy Award 2013, who upon receiving a copy of the book in recent days wrote this post with his impressions:

HUMIDIFYING MEXICO

In my last post yesterday on Facebook I mentioned my esteemed Chef César Sánchez, professor at the University of Celaya, and his theory on humidity to which he compares me for my quality. to sneak in everywhere.

Like so many things, it was a post I was looking for to facilitate the entry of today's post, because I could not let another day go by without thanking the renowned chef and professor for the great honor he has given me by proposing to prologue the reissue of "De boca en boca", a conceptual and visual book on Mexican cuisine that captivated me when the first edition of the book fell into my hands. The day before yesterday I finally got the copy that you have sent me and I have been very happy to see that the reprint respects 100% the spirit of the original book.

"De boca en boca" is a marvel for the eyes and the spirit. It is a book that without words and with a beautiful handful of selected and significant photographs, makes us feel, touch, smell... the dishes that emanate from the kitchens and the wisdom of a few cooks from Guanajuato who open their hearts to the authors and make them participants of various tips, secrets, legends... that they have distributed throughout the book, between photography and photography as a link between the images (or maybe the images are the links between the quotes, who knows).

The fact is that "De boca en boca" thus becomes an original, different, essential book, which creates a desire to go to Guanajuato and delve into its gastronomy much greater than the best Lonely Planet or Michelin guides can create. "De boca en boca" reflects the reality of the cuisine of that little piece of Mexico that is Guanajuato in an authentic, real, sincere, direct way... it is a volume that undoubtedly deserves a Gourmand award for its quality and its deep human and gastronomic charge. It is a book with soul, with weight, with character like very few others.

As I say, friends of the University of Celaya, it is an honor to leave my mark on this book, and a priceless prize that you have allowed me to extend my "humidity" beyond the Atlantic Ocean, in this wonderful land, in this country where I have great friends like Javier Bernal and Alondra Maldonado, also great lovers of gastronomy who I know will be thrilled to know that I am sneaking into your home, even if it is only on one side.

Thank you, friends, for letting me stick this spike in this land, in this great country that is called to be (I think it already is) one of the great and inescapable culinary references of the world and an example of variety, color, flavor, respect for tradition, taste, imagination!

Josema Azpeitia

Aprendiendo a ser buenos líderes.

El Doctor Pedro Espino nos visita de la Universidad Autónoma del Perú con motivo del Congreso Internacional Global Meeting ya que es un investigador experto en innovación y emprendimiento. Por tal motivo, nuestros alumnos de la Prepa Uni tuvieron la oportunidad de charlar con él para entender como el mundo está en constante cambio y movimiento y cómo los jóvenes deben adaptarse constantemente a nuevas circunstancias continuamente y ser felices a pesar de ello.

En la charla, el Dr. Espino les mostró poco a poco el funcionamiento de una empresa y cómo hacer para que todas sus partes funcionen, y vieron algunos ejemplos del por qué es importante que una empresa contribuya a la felicidad de sus colaboradores; pues para que exista un ambiente más feliz no es estrictamente necesario tener instalaciones como las de Google, pero sí motivarlos y hacerlos sentir como elementos valiosos del equipo de trabajo, ya que la actitud y el compromiso de su personal hará la diferencia en los negocios.

Nuestros jóvenes de Prepa Uni, como futuros líderes, entendieron que necesitan tener mucha dedicación para lograr hacer una diferencia en aquello que les apasiona.

"The world, my home that I protect".

"The world, my home that I protect" was the title given to his lecture to the architecture students by Civil Engineer Joel Rayas, zootechnician and soon to be master in land roads.

In this conference we talked about how the construction industry has severely affected the natural ecosystems in which we live and how we must find solutions, materials, projects to recover spaces for the species and above all to change the consciousness of society to take care of our world.

He showed the differences in construction in our country and in first world countries, expressing that our highways, for example, could improve and pollute less if they were well built and with a different structure, since in our country there is no respect for the flora and fauna and the rate of rescue of trees felled in these projects is very small because they are only obliged to rescue 15 to 20 trees for every 100 that are felled.

He spoke to our architects about the importance of caring for wild animals such as opossums, foxes, raccoons, squirrels, hares, among others, and the way in which they will be affected by constructions, because once man creates infrastructure in the middle of their habitat, these species are destined to mistreatment, segregation and even extinction.

On the other hand, he gave the students some examples in countries such as Germany and the Netherlands, where infrastructure, roads, etc., include bridges and wildlife crossing areas for both terrestrial and aquatic animals.

He demonstrated how other materials can be used in the industry as an expansive clay that is an ecological building material, showing how contact with water closes its cracks, which also makes it a very effective material.

He concluded that to generate a change in the planet we can start with small actions such as not littering, not feeding animals and not domesticating wild animals.
