Have you been vaccinated against covid? 3 questions and answers after vaccination.

  1. Can I still get COVID?

The vaccine gives an important protection to the immune system against the virus, you can still get infected, but the risk of becoming seriously ill is almost zero. When a vaccine is 95% effective like the Pfizer/BioNTech one, it means that 95% of people will not get sick, the other 5% maybe, but it will be very rare that they will be hospitalized.

2. Can I transmit the virus?

If you are infected the vaccine will not stop transmission completely, but it will decrease the amount of virus you spread through your mouth and nose, as well as the length of time you can spread it, making you less infectious overall. If the amount of virus in your body is very low the transmission risk is almost zero. Although scientists have not yet determined how low that amount should be. So vaccinated people should continue to wear a mask and keep their social distance.

3. Are we protected against new variants?

The vaccine may protect against new variants, but not completely. The Oxford/AstraSeneca vaccine protects up to 75% from severe infections of the new variant, and pharmaceutical companies are already working on improvements to the vaccines to take into account new strains that may appear. However, the current vaccines should reduce cases of severe disease and deaths in the short term, thus reducing the chances of mutation.

Universidad de Celaya offers the first Diploma in Compliance for the Automotive Industry

Universidad de Celaya offers the first Diploma in Compliance for the Automotive Industry

In the last decade we have seen in Mexico a growth of new provisions that bring, in themselves, elements of self-regulation, such as the Protection of Personal Data, the law of prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism, the law of economic competition, the Anticorruption law, the criminal liability of the legal person, Rule 035, among other provisions that are in the Treaty between Mexico, United States and Canada (T-MEC) that recently entered into force.

This treaty contains several provisions that are part of compliance: labor, regional content, environmental, intellectual property, anti-corruption, among many others, as well as other new laws that are currently being discussed or are in the pipeline, such as the General Law on Corporate Responsibility and Corporate Due Diligence, known as the Law on Business and Human Rights.

Under this new dynamic, trained professionals with knowledge of regulations, risk analysis and methodology are required to implement, put into practice and improve compliance systems.

Undoubtedly, these professional profiles are already in high demand in several countries due to the need and belief that the best companies are those that are sustainable over time with an adequate management of compliance with their regulatory obligations.

At the University of Celaya we are committed to generate programs of academic and practical value for the industry, and with the Diploma in Compliance for the Automotive Industry we are contributing to this new generation of professionals to one of the most important areas of our country and a great pillar of the economy, both in the assembly of light and heavy vehicles and in the auto parts industry, which has influence in several countries.

The Diploma in Compliance for the Automotive Industry offered by the University of Celaya has the following distinctive elements:

  1. Preventive compliance with the laws, agreements and commitments of the companies in the sector is essential for sustainable companies.
  2. The Diploma in Compliance offers the following highlights:

The best national and international professors in the field teach classes; they are professors from Spain, Colombia and Chile.

At the national level, experts in each of the legal areas participate, from the participation of corporate governance, anti-corruption issues, corporate criminal liability, tax issues, foreign trade, prevention of money laundering, to health and hygiene, labor, environmental issues, among others.

It is the first program where it is remarkable that legal directors of automakers, or of groups of auto parts companies, speak about their knowledge and experience.

It is the first program in Mexico recognized by the Word Compliance Association (WCA) in terms of content valid for international certification as a Compliance Officer.

We invite you to register for the next 2021 edition, which will open on April 9.

An experience that no one should tell you about, you should live it.

An experience that no one should tell you about, you should live it.

Our student Erika Jazmín Cortez, from the Culinary Arts program, won a Uni scholarship thanks to her effort and dedication, with the opportunity to stay at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?

Yes, when I was looking for my options they explained to me that at the university in Celaya they had many scholarship opportunities of all kinds and that they made a lot of use of the scholarships that the State of Guanajuato also offers.

When you entered your career, did you think you would go to live and study abroad?

Honestly no, it was something that terrified me because it was something completely different, besides I imagined that it was a very complicated procedure.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?

No, it is the first time I leave the country and to be honest I am having a great experience.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?

Getting out of your comfort zone is something very complicated, so that's what motivated me to improve myself personally and professionally, to make a change in my life for the better.

Why did you decide to study in that country?

I chose Brazil because since high school I had a great desire to know its festivities, especially the carnival. Also its gastronomy is very interesting and I wanted to learn the language, which is Portuguese.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?

I felt a lot of fear since arriving to a completely different place is difficult, I didn't speak the language and communicating was complicated even though Spanish is a bit similar to Portuguese. But it's not all bad, I also felt very excited and happy to experience new things and learn more.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?

I was surprised how all the professors and mobility students receive you with much affection and enthusiasm, they give you a lot of support in anything you need, whether it is paperwork or shopping. I am very grateful to the University for the welcome they gave us.

What will you miss most about Mexico and UNI?

From Mexico it would be my family, the weather, festivities and above all the food because there are no two like ours. From the university to my teachers and friends, I think also the way of evaluating.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?

Undoubtedly it is to have met many new people and create bonds of friendship, also tourism is very good, but it is always complemented by good people.

And the hardest part?

Being away from my family would be the most difficult thing, apart from the situation that we live in COVID-19 this complicated my stay here in Brazil but being far from home. Although I am grateful for the support that PUCRS University gave me.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this experience?

I am no longer afraid to experience new things, not to stay in a comfort zone. I want this experience to help me grow more in my professional field since I know a different gastronomic culture, that this will be an impulse to continue learning and traveling more.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

I recommend it 100%, this is an experience that no one should tell you about, you should live it. If you have the opportunity and the support of an institution you must make the most of it, what better time than now?

A bit unreal, since I had not been outside of Mexico, but pretty cool.

Adventuring and learning.

Daniela Montes López, completed a semester of her degree in Communication and Audiovisual Media at Guangdong University thanks to the Uni.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?

Yes, I had been told about it since I entered, but I didn't really understand what it consisted of.

¿Creítion that you will goíAre you planning to live and study abroad?

I did believe it, because it was a goal I had since I started my career, becoming one of my motivations to do my best in my studies .

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?

No, never.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?

I was motivated to get to know a culture different from my own, to learn a language, and that this language would make me realize that my limitations are in my head and that I am capable of overcoming them. In addition, I knew that being in a different landscape than the one I already knew would allow me to discover skills and aptitudes that I had not noticed before in myself. On the other hand, I wanted to be the one to make my country and university known.

Why did you decide to study in that country?

Because throughout my career I have had to live with Chinese students who go to the university, who told me about their country, leaving me curious to learn about their culture and experience on my own all those social and cultural differences that I knew would help me grow as a person.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?

I could not believe that I was on the other side of the world and although from the first moment I could notice the culture shock, without understanding anything of what they were telling me, I was very curious about what could happen. I also felt very happy because I was reaffirming the friendship I created with my Chinese friends I met at UNI in Mexico, who welcomed me at the airport, introducing me to more friends, and without a doubt, Chinese people are very kind people.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?

They have been very kind and willing to answer any questions, especially the Chinese students who had been at UNI and two students who shared a room with us, thanks to them we were able to enjoy our stay more.

What will you miss most about Mexico?

To my family, friends and Mexican food. I may miss my daily activities in Mexico, but best of all, I am sure I will be very busy capturing every moment in my mind to express it with such excitement to everyone when I return.

What about UNI?

Subjects related to my career, my professors and friends.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?

A few weeks after arriving in China, we Mexicans ventured on a trip to the north of the country (Zhangjiajie), we all stayed in the same room, we were just getting to know each other, no one understood any Chinese, to tell the truth, we were new to everything, but that was what made it one of the best trips, we visited places with incredible landscapes, even one day we stayed on a mountain waiting for the sunset, of course, then we had to run down because they were going to close the park. Undoubtedly, the improvised trips are the ones that surprise you.

And the hardest part?

At the beginning I was learning the language, I heard or saw it and did not know how I was going to distinguish the characters and at the same time speak it, but as the days went by I got used to it, until I understood a basic conversation or even to be able to communicate when I needed to. I also got used to the way of payment when buying a product, because here are rare places where they accept cash and everything had to be with a mobile device.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?

The experience of living abroad allows you to enjoy life without what you are used to, being a challenge, although a great decision, because it strengthens the soft skills and agility of resolution to the challenges that are presented along the way, knowing hidden areas of your person, which help you both personally and professionally, leaving new goals to meet.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by UNI to your colleagues?

Totally, I believe that living an experience abroad and in particular in China allows you to leave your comfort zone, adapting to new customs and discovering that the biggest limitation is in you.

Thank you very much!
