Ale Sanchez is studying a degree in Gastronomy at Uni and last semester he completed a semester stay and also did an internship in Brazil.
When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, since the other students who had traveled abroad last semester informed us of a Portuguese course for foreigners that would help us a lot to be able to be more fluent with the language.
Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
The truth is that I never imagined it, but the best of all is that surprises come when you least expect it and it is worth all the effort I make to be a good student.
Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
Never, it was my first time.
What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
The simple fact that I was going to have the opportunity to get to know another culture and to have the experience of living alone and knowing that everything you do has to be a reflection of your effort. Also to get to know the gastronomy of another country.
Why did you decide to study in that country?
Because it is a Latin American country, which has tropical ingredients and ingredients from Europe, its gastronomy has a fluid variety and by meeting people from there I could get to know typical or familiar dishes that would allow me to understand more about the culinary tradition of that country.
How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
I was very excited because I loved the idea of being able to see what it had to offer and the new things I could see.
How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
It is a very beautiful university and with a splendid staff, they are very attentive to each of the foreigners and always supported you in any problem you might have.
What will you miss most about Mexico?
Gastronomy
What about the Uni?
The way of working since I was used to their way of evaluation and above all to all the teachers and students of my faculty.
What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
The opportunity to be able to travel to other parts of the country and all the people I met from various parts of the world is great.
And the hardest part?
Having to get ahead with my studies in college and having some family problems.
What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
Personally I was looking for development and development to be able to get ahead alone in an unknown country and with the people around me. Professionally, I had the opportunity to get to know very closely its gastronomy and also an opportunity to develop work experience.
Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
Of course, it is one of the best experiences a student can have, mainly because you start to value all the things that you have in your country and you just don't see them as something special, until you are far away from them, and also because you meet many people that help you to change as a person and to think in a different way.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
I want to improve as a person because I have met new customs and cultures, so I want to be a more open person in terms of the world in general and as a professional I want to improve because of the level that this University has.
