Juan Carlos Gallegos, Global Business student was winner of the State Scholarship "The Washington Center" for the period August - December 2018, here he tells us about his experience.
Living abroad and getting out of my comfort zone are some of the things I enjoy most about having an international experience. Washington, DC is a city full of opportunities with many professionals looking to make their mark on a political or economic landscape. Living there has taught me many things about the culture of the United States and why certain decisions are made. As part of this experience I had the honor of being part of The Washington Center doing a seminar on public policy and project development. During this period I was working in the North American Regional Office of ProMexico, where I learned many things, but above all how to approach future investors to the Mexican market. The city, besides having a great political importance, also has a networking culture. During my stay I had the opportunity to meet different members of embassies from countries such as Germany, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland and New Zealand, as well as collaborators from the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. Finally, I emphasize that all of this is achievable by being proactive and having an open mind to the different opportunities that one is presented with.
