IMG_4977Our state has more than 1,000 unexplored archaeological sites, 32 are located in the municipality of Celaya and only 4 areas have been made available for visits in Guanajuato. Given this scenario, it is necessary first to disseminate the richness of the region and create awareness to value, rescue and preserve this great heritage.

For this reason, the University of Celaya is holding the First Week of Archaeology, also in line with the first Diploma in Archaeology and History that Uni has been offering since January 2016 in collaboration with the León Prehispanic Cultural Project.

This Archaeology Week will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2016 at the University of Celaya. Counting with the presence of important experts and archaeologists from INAH who will present their research regarding restoration, heritage conservation, etc.

The week will culminate with a keynote lecture by Engineer Miguel Angel Cruz Martinez on Thursday, June 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jose Nieto Piña Theater. Miguel Angel was in charge of the rescue of the Tresguerras Bridge and the creation of the botanical theater, plazas and walkways adjacent to the bridge.
