María Fernanda Arredondo Flores won the uni scholarship to study for a semester in Spain, here she tells us about her experience.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?
Yes, that was one of the main reasons I went to college.

Did you think you would go live and study abroad in your first semester?
Yes, it was always one of my goals within the University.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?
No.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?
One of the main reasons was to get to know a new culture and people and to have the possibility to see and learn from the architecture of other countries.

Why did you decide to study in that country?
One of the main reasons is the architecture of Spain, which has one of the greatest precursors.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?
I was excited but at the same time nervous about what to expect with the new school and new people.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?
They always helped us in everything we needed, they tried to integrate people with mobility problems through trips and activities.

What will you miss most about Mexico?
What I missed most during my stay was my family and the food.

What about the Uni?
To my fellow architects.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?
Having the opportunity to travel to different countries and cities, meeting people from other countries.

And the hardest part?
The hardest thing was being away from the people I love.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?
I hope to learn from all these opportunities that the University of Celaya gives us, to learn from each person and each place, and professionally to learn from each one of the teachers, and from the architecture of the different places I went to.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?
Yes, because it is an extremely enriching experience, which we should take advantage of, since we learn a lot by living in another country, due to the cultural exchange and meeting new people.
