Always try to go further and go for the hardest.

Interview with Juan Carlos Gallegos Cárdenas, Global Business student and winner of the Uni scholarship to study at Hallym University in South Korea.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?

I did know, but I did not know in detail what they consisted of and what the exchange process was like.

Did you think you would go to live and study abroad?

I wasn't really sure but for me it was an illusion to be able to study abroad.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?

Before coming here I had the opportunity to participate in Trep Camp, another Uni program in the city of San Diego California where I stayed for three weeks, but I never spent more time out of the country.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?

I was very motivated to learn about another culture, meet people from other countries and appreciate the beauty of another country.

Why did you decide to study in that country?

I decided to study in South Korea because I wanted a challenge, where I could get to know another culture totally different from the Mexican one and practice my English.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?

I was in awe of the friendly and respectful people of South Korea. But I was also very curious about the cuisine and the way people lived together.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?

I have been very well received, all the people are very friendly and always willing to help me if I have any problems.

What will you miss most about Mexico?

I miss my family and my girlfriend very much but also the food.

What about the Uni?

To my classmates and the environment of the Uni.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?

For me, the most exciting thing has been to be able to visit the modern parts such as financial centers and very tall buildings. And also the old parts like temples and palaces in the company of my friends.

And the hardest part?

The most difficult thing has been the language. It is very complicated to read in Korean.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?

I hope to be more open to different cultures and different ways of thinking. I also think this experience will give me an insight into how I can do business with people from different cultures.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

Of course I recommend these types of opportunities but I recommend that you always try to go the extra mile and go for the hardest.

Thank you very much UNI!

What stays with you is very important both as a student and as a person.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?

Yes, it is one of the most noticeable things or one of the first things you learn about when you enter the University, which has several international programs.

Did you think you would go to live and study abroad?

The truth is yes, since I entered the University I set as one of my goals to study abroad when the time was right.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?

No, never, this is the first time I leave Mexico.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?

I felt that as a person and a student it was an opportunity that I needed and should take advantage of to expand my horizons and grow both academically and personally.

Why did you decide to study in that country?

If I am honest, my first choice was Spain, but for certain reasons beyond the University's control, this stay could not materialize, although, thanks to the support of the University, it was not possible. thanksto the support of the University, I did not give up and decided to study in Chile I did not give up and decided to study in Chile because it seemed the most interesting country for me and for my career.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?

I felt a mixture of fear and excitement, it is very interesting to know that you are going to meet a new culture and new people, but at the same time it is scary to distance yourself from everything you know and what you are used to.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?

Simply wonderful, the external relations staff is the most attentive and friendly with students and support you in everything and, although the university itself has a slightly different system to what I am used to, any doubt or problem that I have had, they have helped me quickly and very attentive.

What will you miss most about Mexico?

My family, my friends and Mexican food.

What about the Uni?

My peers and at least, in my case, the evaluation system and the Licensors to whom I am already accustomed.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?

The academic trips that the University organizes are all very fun and exciting, getting to know places in Chile and its culture seems to me something that one must do, even if it is just a little bit.

And the hardest part?

The reality and what it means to live on your own and far away from everyone I know, it is not easy to complement your studies with the obligations at home or daily life that being here you have to see everything by yourself.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?

Being here I have been able to see a whole different system than in Mexico, as a professional is to open my borders and have a broader view of what the world is, as a person it allows me to grow and mature since being here I only have time to reflect and learn both what my teachers have to teach as well as the Chilean society itself.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

Yes, it is a scary experience that has both good and bad points, but what you get and take away from leaving your world and getting to know a bigger one is priceless, what stays with you is something very important both as a student and as a person.

I feel at home here in China.

Interview with Ana Karla Oliveros Botello from Industrial Engineering who won a scholarship to study at Guandgong University in South China Business College.

When you entered Uni did you know there were international programs?

Yes, in addition to the level offered by the University of Celaya, the scholarship opportunities to study abroad were something that made me decide to study at this university.

Did you think you would go to live and study abroad?

I always took it as a motivation to keep a good GPA every semester because I knew that day could come, and it did.

Have you ever lived or studied outside of Mexico before?

No, I had never had the opportunity to study or live outside of Mexico but without a doubt it has been one of the best experiences of my life.

What prompted or motivated you to study in another country?

The fact of growing as a person, knowing new cultures, new people, new places, even knowing a new language. Knowing what the world is like out there and being better prepared for the future, especially in a world power like China.

Why did you decide to study in that country?

For its cultural richness, to learn a totally new language for me and to get to know a world totally different from Mexico.

How did you feel when you arrived in the new country?

After a few months I still can not understand that I am so far away from my country, I feel at home here in China, everything has gone great in my stay here. As for the time difference I think it has been the most difficult thing since it is 14 hours different from Mexico and I was a little afraid that I was going to distance myself a little from my family, so even though I have found a way to stay in touch with them, China has gradually become my home.

How have you been received at the university where you arrived?

I have been treated wonderfully, everyone is very kind to foreigners, they take care of us very well and support us with anything we need from students to teachers and administrators.

What will you miss most about Mexico?

I miss my family very much, it is very difficult to find times when we can be awake to talk due to the time difference, I also miss my friends that I left there but every time I talk to them, with the people who love me and wait for me, they motivate me to give all of me while I am away.

What about the Uni?

I miss the education system they have there and the way they study, for example there are mid-term exams and here in China it is only one exam per semester, I also miss my classmates and friends of my generation and my area.

What is the most exciting thing you have experienced so far in this experience?

The most exciting thing I have experienced here in China is communicating with the local people, it has not been easy but it has been a challenge that I have managed to overcome and something I am very proud of. Also traveling to many places has been very exciting like going to the Great Wall in Beijing, visiting fairs, places and very exotic food.

And the hardest part?

The most difficult part was the time difference and adapting to the different eating hours, which are very different from what we were used to, besides having arrived at the school knowing absolutely no Chinese, but thanks to the hospitality of the people we had no major problems.

What do you expect as a person and as a professional from this program?

Personally, learning to be independent, learning to take care of myself, to talk to anyone without fear, even to speak better in public and be more extroverted. Professionally, the experience of knowing how to live and work in a first world country, learning a language as important as Mandarin, which is so important and because there are so many Chinese companies, opens doors in more companies and does not close my chances of returning to work in the future to put the name of my country and my university up high.

Do you recommend these opportunities provided by Uni to your colleagues?

100% recommended to my university classmates, without a doubt it is an unforgettable experience and in the future it will help us to be better people, students or workers. And I also recommend taking advantage of all the opportunities offered by the University of Celaya apart from the exchange programs it has, undoubtedly one of the best study options in the city.

Thank you very much to the University of Celaya for giving me this amazing opportunity!

Espero hacer proyectos más ambiciosos con base en lo que he aprendido
